Introduction
SRUK is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
Layout
This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to manage page layouts, which means pages are well structured and compatible with most assistive technologies.
Images
Graphics and images on our website have alternative text, which describe the contents or function of what is displayed on screen.
Links
Links in sentences are underlined and in a different colour. Links open in the same window unless otherwise stated.
Downloads
SRUK publications and our other downloadable materials are available as Adobe PDF files. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to access them, which you can download for free from the Adobe website.

Navigation aids

- The search function in the top right-hand corner of the page can be used to find specific pages
- Where you are in any given section of the website is shown at the top of the page
- For those using screen readers, we have included links that enable main page navigation to be skipped. These are known as ‘skip links’.
Forms
The fields in forms are clearly labelled, and errors in forms are flagged before a form can be submitted.
Known limitations
While we strive to meet accessibility standards, there are some areas that may not be fully accessible yet:
- Some PDF documents on our site are not fully accessible
- Certain multimedia content may lack captions or transcripts
- Older browser versions may not display all features correctly
Whilst we strive to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.
We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility. In the meantime, should you experience any difficulty in accessing our website, please don’t hesitate to get in touch >
