Energy costs are up two per cent from Wednesday 1 October 2025, as Ofgem’s latest price cap comes into effect.

Alongside this increase and with the Autumn Budget on the horizon, SRUK is concerned people with Raynaud’s will struggle with the rising costs – which they incur as a result of requiring the use of heating to help manage their symptoms.

Background

SRUK’s Winter Energy campaign launched in 2022 to champion the rights of our Raynaud’s community, calling on energy suppliers to step up and provide support for those living with this condition, which is triggered by the cold.

SRUK policy asks

Over the last few years SRUK has asked the UK’s energy companies to recognise Raynaud’s as a legitimate health condition that leaves people vulnerable to the cold and therefore eligible for additional support to help keep their heating bills affordable.

SRUK has included a number of asks to both the Government and the ‘Big Six’ energy companies, including:

  • Extending the Energy Price Guarantee for vulnerable groups to include those with Raynaud’s
  • Including Raynaud’s as a criterion for the annual Warm Homes Discount
  • Expanding the Cost-of-Living Payment criteria to include people living with Raynaud’s
