Poppy, who lives with Raynaud’s, joined her under-9s rugby teammates from King Cross Park RLFC in taking on the action-packed course.

Poppy’s symptoms are more present in her feet, she suffers from very cold feet and hands triggering regular chilblains.

Despite this, she has managed to play an entire season with her rugby team, with the use of thermal skins on her feet and medication to help with her circulation.

The fundraising event saw her face 15 tough obstacles – including ‘Muddy Mayhem’, ‘Canopy Climb’ and the thrilling new ‘Slideaway’.

Poppy, from Halifax, West Yorkshire, and her teammates had to run, climb, crawl and slide through the course in a test of determination and team spirit.

They raised an incredible £500 through their efforts.

Poppy’s dad Peter said:

“Poppy was absolutely delighted to take part in Junior Warrior and so proud to raise money for SRUK, a cause that is incredibly close to her heart. We are very grateful for the generosity and encouragement she received from friends, family and the wider community. Every donation and message of support meant the world to her, and together they have helped raise money and awareness for a very important cause. I’m just really proud of her – she did fantastically.”

“Raynaud’s isn’t just an older person’s thing – kids get it as well.”

Gemma Cornwell, Head of Fundraising & Engagement at SRUK, said:

“Poppy’s determination and fundraising achievements are nothing short of inspiring. We are so proud of Poppy and grateful that she has raised more than £500 that will help us support people living with Raynaud’s and scleroderma. There is so much we don’t know about these debilitating conditions, which is why we want to fund more research to help us develop new treatments and ultimately to find a cure.”
