Join Team SRUK and take on the 40th Great North Run for what is set to be their boldest event yet, with a whole host of exciting new activities and experiences for runners, spectators and visitors planned.
Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne where thousands of runners will cross over the iconic Tyne Bridge. From there, the route travels through Gateshead and past the Gateshead Stadium, through South Tyneside before finishing with the amazing sea views in South Shields.
Since its first staging, The Great North Run has grown into the world's largest half marathon and UK's biggest running event with 57,000 runners annually. Almost nothing beats the atmosphere on the day of the Great North Run!

If you have already secured a place through the event organisers we would welcome you to join #TeamSRUK as an Own Place runner. To join as an Own Place runner you must have already received your place and paid your entry fee directly to the event organisers. As an Own Place runner there is no minimum sponsorship required but every penny you raise helps support our vital work.
