Amanda's Story

Amanda has scleroderma and that means she misses out on some of her Christmas traditions

"As a child I loved going to Christmas markets and I really wish I could go and relive those memories. But the cold conditions make it really painful to be outside for too long so I have to stick to indoor shopping centres where it's a bit warmer, but the atmosphere just isn't the same.

"I do feel like I'm missing out sometimes, as my condition means that I can't do all the things that I used to enjoy. Having a rare disease can be very isolating, it's difficult to find the right information but the SRUK helpline has been great, I have really benefitted from being able to talk to other people who have scleroderma.

"I work in retail so Christmas can feel like a daunting time, but it's good to know that I can call the SRUK helpline at any time."

Please donate to make sure that SRUK can be there for me and everyone else that needs it.

"Thank you so much for your support it really means a lot that you are helping SRUK to fund research, support and information. Hopefully, one day we will find a cure."

"I hope that you have a good Christmas and new year!"
