Darren South has successfully completed an impressive 1,000-mile cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in just 10 days, raising vital funds and awareness for Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK).

Two years ago, Darren first attempted the challenge, but was forced to stop after 600 miles following an accident in which he broke his collarbone. This year, determined to finish what he started, he returned to the saddle and triumphantly completed the ride from Cornwall to Scotland.

Speaking about the challenge, Darren, 57, said:

“I am incredibly grateful for all the support and encouragement I received throughout this journey. When I first tried this challenge two years ago, I never imagined I’d be able to come back and finish it. This time, I wanted to do it not just for myself, but to raise awareness and funds for SRUK.

“Scleroderma and Raynaud’s are conditions that affect my family and I wanted to make a difference by supporting the amazing work SRUK do. The generosity and kindness of those who have donated has been overwhelming and I can’t thank everyone enough.”

Gemma Cornwell, Head of Fundraising & Engagement at SRUK, said:

“We’d like to say a huge well done to Darren, who, after 10 days of cycling, has completed the journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats. This 1000-mile challenge is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of Darren and grateful that he took this on for SRUK, in support of his mother-in-law. Darren has raised an incredible £1,000 for SRUK, which is fantastic and will make a huge difference to our community.”
